How much does a commercial ice machine cost

Updated 2026-10-12. Independent guide — not a dealer quote.

A cafe, bar, or small restaurant asking “how much does a commercial ice machine cost” is usually mixing three different numbers. The cabinet price on a retailer page is the machine (and, on an undercounter, the bin inside that cabinet). The installed price adds the drain, the water line, the circuit, and the labor, which the pages below do not print. Year-1 ownership adds a filter, cleaner, and any service the factory warranty does not cover. Electricity and water are a fourth bill. They are the energy and water page, not a dollar rate this article invents.

This page is the purchase / cash side. Subscription starting rates, the “about two months” install sentence, and the GAAP / IRS lease tests stay on lease vs buy. This page does not reprint that monthly table.

Pounds per day start on how to size a commercial ice machine. A head with no bin is ice bin sizing. Form factor is undercounter vs modular vs countertop. A dispenser is not a bin: ice dispenser vs ice bin. The spot is installation requirements. A remote condenser is a different install: remote condenser vs self-contained. Cartridges are water filters and descalers. The clean interval is how to clean a commercial ice machine. Heat in the room is air-cooled vs water-cooled.

Prices below were read on 2026-10-12 from the URLs in the sources. They are shelf listings, not a dealer quote and not a manufacturer MSRP. Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman, and Ice-O-Matic pages this site uses for specs still do not print an MSRP. Where a retailer page also says “Contact us for details,” that listing is marked MAP / call. The number on the page is what we cite. The cart can differ. A price that varies by ZIP is not filled in.

Pounds in the tables are the figures already on each directory page. If a retailer line prints a different pound figure, both are named. We did not average them.

What “cost” means

Layer What it includes What we could cite on 2026-10-12
Cabinet or head The machine the product page sells. An undercounter listing includes its bin. A modular head listing does not. Named retailer prices in the next section
Head plus bin, or a kit that says the bin is included Two SKUs, unless the page says the kit includes both One Webstaurant kit that names the head and the bin. A separate bin listing that does not name every head
Dispenser Ice-and-water cabinet with a small hopper, not a dump bin Two suffixes of one Scotsman family on one page
Install Labor, a new water line, a drain, a drain pump, a dedicated circuit Not printed on the product pages we opened. Call for a quote. The only published install-fee sentence we already use is Easy Ice’s subscription line, and it is not a purchase labor rate
Filters and cleaner A filter system or cartridge, and a jug of nickel-safe descaler Shelf prices below. A jug is not “one cleaning”
Year-1 defect service Factory warranty clock, if the machine is registered and the install matches the bond Years already quoted on the lease vs buy page. No hourly trip rate on the pages we opened
Power and water What the utility bills Not a price. Use the energy guide once you have a utility rate

Do not add a MAP cabinet price, a bin from a different retailer, and a guessed install fee and call the sum “the cost.” The worked examples below add only figures that were on the pages, and they say which ones are MAP.

Published purchase prices by form factor

These are listings for models that already have a directory page, plus one bin SKU that does not. Suffixes matter. CU50 is the family. The priced listing is CU50GAX-1A. HID525 is the family. The priced listings are HID525A-1 and HID525AX-1A.

Undercounter (maker and bin in one cabinet)

Directory model 70/50 lb and 90/70 lb on the directory page Listing we opened Price on that page What the price is
Hoshizaki AM-50BAK 54 lb at 70/50. 90/70 is blank on the directory page WebstaurantStore AM-50BAK $3,180.00/Each, and the page also says Contact us for details MAP / call. Cabinet with storage. The page’s yield line is 54 lb, which matches the directory. 27 lb storage matches the directory
Hoshizaki KM-81BAK 98 lb at 70/50. 76 lb at 90/70 WebstaurantStore KM-81BAK $2,955.00/Each, and the page also says Contact us for details MAP / call. The price element and og:price:amount were 2955.00. Yield line 98 lb and 38 lb storage match the directory
Manitowoc UYF-0140A 137 lb at 70/50. 100 lb at 90/70 WebstaurantStore UYF-0140A $2,780.00/Each No “contact us” line on the price block we read. The page’s 137 lb yield and 90 lb bin match the directory. The same page points at a replacement suffix, UYP0140A-161B, and does not put that replacement’s price in the block we are citing
Manitowoc UYF-0190A 193 lb at 70/50. 140 lb at 90/70 WebstaurantStore UYF0190A $2,139.00/Each The price block says “Only.” The page also offers replacement UYP0190A-161B and does not print that replacement’s price in the block we read. We are not treating $2,139 as the price of every 190-class machine. 193 lb and a 90 lb bin match the directory
Scotsman CU50 family Directory CU50: 65 lb at 70/50, 49 lb at 90/70, 26 lb storage WebstaurantStore CU50GAX-1A $3,247.00/Each This suffix, not a bare “CU50” with no letters. Spec table: 65 lb yield, 26 lb bin. A later sentence on the same page says “Bin Capacity: 65 lb.” We are not using that sentence. The spec table matches the directory

On this one retailer, on this one day, those five displayed figures run from $2,139 to $3,247. That is a list of named pages. It is not “undercounter machines cost $2,139 to $3,247.” Two of the Hoshizaki figures are MAP. The $2,139 figure sits on a page that is already pointing at a replacement suffix. A smaller gourmet cabinet (CU50GAX-1A at $3,247) listed above a larger half-dice cabinet (UYF-0190A at $2,139). Dollars did not rise with pounds.

Modular head, and a head that is sold with a bin

Directory model Directory pounds Listing we opened Price on that page What is in the price
Hoshizaki KM-520MAJ 556 lb at 70/50. 90/70 was not on the product page this directory uses WebstaurantStore KM-520MAJ $4,535.00/Each, and Contact us for details MAP / call. Head only. The page’s 556 lb line matches the directory. The same page names replacement KM-522MAK and does not price that replacement in the block we read. The page prints Hardwire
Same title, different retailer, identity not clean Directory stays 556 lb. Do not replace it with the other page’s 548 lb KaTom page titled KM-520MAJ $4,805.00/Each, and Contact us for details! MAP / call. The title, the “also known as” line, and the schema mpn say KM-520MAJ. The header MPN line says KM-522MAK. The manufacturer paragraph on that page says 548 lb at 70°/50° and 445 lb AHRI at 90°/70°. Those pounds are that page’s paragraph. They are not the directory spec. We are not sure the cart is the directory head
Manitowoc IYT0450A 490 lb at 70/50. 378 lb at 90/70. Directory storage is blank because it is a head WebstaurantStore IYT0450A with bin $5,695.46/Each The page says the kit includes storage bin item 499D570 (532 lb on that page) and head item 499IYT0450AA. This is not a head-only price. Yield line 490 lb matches the directory 70/50 figure. The page prints Hardwire. It also points at replacement IYP0450A-161 with a bin and does not put that replacement’s price in the block we read

A 22-inch bin with its own page, not a directory model: Hoshizaki B-300SF was $1,555.00/Each, and the page also says Contact us for details! The bin page’s compatibility list names KM-340M, KM-515M, KM-600M, KM-650M, and three flakers. It does not name KM-520MAJ. The KaTom head page above offers B-300SF as an add-on. Those two KaTom sentences disagree about the pair. Do not add $4,805 and $1,555 and call it a matched KM-520 stack. Bin capacity rules stay on ice bin sizing.

Ice-O-Matic CIM0430A is a directory head (435 lb at 70/50; the directory already flags 90/70 as uncertain). We did not open a listing whose title was CIM0430A, so this page does not give it a price. A nearby full-cube suffix is a different ice type. It is not filled in here.

Dispenser

Directory model Directory pounds Listing we opened Price on that page
Scotsman HID525 500 lb at 70/50. 380 lb at 90/70. 25 lb hopper WebstaurantStore HID525A-1 $8,286.00/Each for HID525A-1. The same page’s replacement block lists HID525AX-1A at $8,833.00/Each

That is one family on one page: $8,286 and $8,833. It is not a market survey of every dispenser. The hopper is 25 lb on the directory page and on this listing. A 500 lb production day with a 25 lb hopper is a dispensing cabinet, not a 500 lb bin. Read ice dispenser vs ice bin before you compare $8,286 with a modular head.

Install, drain, and electrical

The product pages above that mention installation say to check a ZIP code for whether installation is available. They do not print a labor dollar, a drain-pump dollar, or a new-circuit dollar. Purchase install is call-for-quote.

What those same pages do print, which changes the quote even when the cabinet price is known:

  • KM-520MAJ and the IYT0450A kit both print Hardwire. A cord-and-plug undercounter is a different electrical job. Voltage and clearance stay on the installation guide. This page is not a second electrical table.
  • CU50GAX-1A says the gravity drain needs a floor drain within 6 feet. A pump-drain suffix is a different SKU. We did not price the pump suffix.
  • A remote condenser adds line-set and roof work. No labor price for that work was on the pages we opened. The comparison is remote condenser vs self-contained.

Easy Ice’s subscription FAQ says a one-time installation fee is typically about two months of the subscription. That sentence is for their subscription, and the arithmetic is already on lease vs buy. It is not a dollar you can add to a Webstaurant cabinet. Their additional-charges page names copper drains, long drains, a drain pump, a water line, and stairs as extras, without dollar amounts. Those blanks stay blanks.

Filters, cleaner, and year-1 service

Filter which cartridge, and the gallon rating, stay on water filters and descalers. This section is only the shelf prices we opened. The Hoshizaki manufacturer page cited there is still the capacity source (21,000 gallons or 6–12 months for the 4HC-H family, icemakers under 900 lb/day, not the flaker recommendation). The retailer price page prints its own micron line. We are not overwriting the filters guide with it.

Item Page Price on 2026-10-12 How to use the number
Hoshizaki H9320-51 single cartridge system WebstaurantStore $320.00/Each, and Contact us for details MAP / call. The page says it works with Hoshizaki AM, KM, and DKM machines. It prints 0.5 micron and 2 GPM. Do not hang this system on a Manitowoc or Scotsman head just because the dollar is known. The same $320.00 was an add-on on the KaTom KM-520 page
Hoshizaki H9655-11 replacement cartridge WebstaurantStore H9655-11 URL $135.00/Each, and Contact us for details MAP / call. The title is H9655-11. The spec heading on that same page reads H9655-06. We are citing the titled price. We are not using that page’s micron line. The filters guide already separates the 1-pack and the 6-pack. One cartridge in the first year is possible because the manufacturer interval can be six months. We are not multiplying by a guessed change count
Everpure Insurice Twin i2000², add-on code EV932402 Printed as an add-on on the KaTom KM-520 page $562.08 A filter add-on on that page, not a second ice-machine price. The head identity on that page is the uncertain one above. The filter code is not
Hoshizaki SCALEAWAY, 1 gallon WebstaurantStore $153.48/Each The jug. That page says it cannot ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Ounces per clean are the model manual, via the cleaning guide. Do not divide $153.48 by a cycle we did not copy

Year-1 defect labor is the warranty clock, not a trip fee we found. The years already recorded on lease vs buy (retrieved there on 2026-10-09) are: Hoshizaki KM 3-year parts and labor on the machine, Hoshizaki AM and C 2-year parts and labor, Hoshizaki water filters 1-year on the system, Manitowoc ice-machine bond 36 months from installation on the terms of that bond. This page did not re-open those warranty PDFs. A used machine often has none of those years. That checklist is repair vs replace.

We did not find a published hourly service rate. Call for the trip.

Optional retailer protection plans, which are not the factory warranty, were printed as:

  • KM-81BAK page: coverage starting at $164.55
  • AM-50BAK page: coverage starting at $164.55
  • CU50GAX-1A page: coverage starting at $179.36
  • KaTom page titled KM-520MAJ: 4-year $155.25, 5-year $335.25 (Safeware, commercial use, exclusions on that page)

Those are add-on prices on the day we opened the page. They are not a service-call rate and not proof the plan covers a scaled evaporator. Cleaning is still the owner’s, inside or outside warranty. The Manitowoc bond language quoted on the lease page already says maintenance, adjustments, and cleaning stay with the owner.

How the dollars move when the kitchen is hot

Size the business on the sizing guide first. The 70/50 column is the cool-room rating. The 90/70 column is the hot-kitchen rating when the directory page has one. This article does not invent a percent “hot kitchen costs more” uplift. It uses the pounds already on the directory pages.

Example need, picked for the arithmetic: 120 lb on a 90/70 day. That 120 is not a cafe formula and not a bar formula. Replace it with the sizing-guide total before you buy.

Machine 90/70 lb on the directory page Does 120 lb at 90/70 fit that cell? Cabinet price we cited
KM-81BAK 76 No. 76 is under 120 $2,955 MAP
UYF-0140A 100 No. 100 is under 120 $2,780
UYF-0190A 140 Yes, on that cell. 140 is over 120 $2,139 on a page that also offers a replacement suffix
CU50 / CU50GAX-1A 49 No $3,247 for the GAX-1A suffix
AM-50BAK Not on the directory page Do not guess a 90/70 pound $3,180 MAP

The listing that clears 120 lb at 90/70 in this set is not the most expensive undercounter on the list. The gourmet 49 lb machine is priced above the 140 lb machine. Buying “the next size up” is a pounds decision. It is not a straight price ladder.

Second example need, also picked: 350 lb on a 90/70 day.

  • IYT0450A is 378 lb at 90/70. That cell clears 350. The price we have is the kit with the D570 bin, $5,695.46, not the head alone.
  • KM-520MAJ is 556 lb at 70/50. The directory does not have a 90/70 figure. We do not invent one, so we do not say the head clears 350 lb in a hot kitchen. The Webstaurant price is $4,535 MAP for the head only. A bin is still a second purchase. The KaTom $4,805 is the uncertain-identity listing above.

A head-only price can look cheaper than a smaller undercounter while leaving the bin, the hardwire, and the install off the page.

A labeled cabinet-plus-consumables sum

Inputs, all Webstaurant displayed prices on 2026-10-12:

  • KM-81BAK cabinet $2,955.00 (MAP / contact us)
  • H9320-51 system $320.00 (MAP / contact us). The filter page says this system is for Hoshizaki AM, KM, and DKM machines. KM-81 is in that family name. Confirm the current Hoshizaki filter page before you order it for that serial.
  • SCALEAWAY, one gallon $153.48

Addition: 2,955.00 + 320.00 + 153.48 = $3,428.48.

That sum is three shelf prices. It is not an invoice. Both the cabinet and the filter say contact us, so a cart can be different. Not in the sum: install labor, a later H9655 cartridge, freight beyond what the page already calls free shipping, electricity, water, and any service call. Alaska and Hawaii are excluded by the cleaner page even if the machine page will ship.

We are not adding the Hoshizaki filter dollar to the Manitowoc kit. The filter page we opened does not say it fits that head.

Lease and subscription, without the monthly table

If the question is a monthly payment, use lease vs buy. Easy Ice’s published starting rates and the “about two months of the subscription” install sentence are there. This page does not copy them.

A shelf price and a subscription monthly are not the same product. On the program that lease page read, the monthly figure is described as including cleanings and most repairs. The cabinet prices on this page do not include those visits. Electricity and water sit on both sides. Write Q for the installed purchase quote, then compare Q plus filters, cleaner, and post-warranty repairs with the subscription arithmetic on that page. Do not drop $2,955 or $5,695.46 into Q. Q is installed. These figures are not.

What this page is not

  • A dealer quote, a manufacturer MSRP, or a national installed price. Install labor, a new circuit, and a drain pump were not printed on the pages we opened.
  • The subscription rate card. Monthly starting rates stay on lease vs buy.
  • A health-code letter. Cleaning intervals are the cleaning guide.
  • A review. Customer stories on the retailer pages are not repeated here.
  • A lifespan or MTBF table. Warranty years are defect coverage, not a published life. This page does not invent one.
  • A sizing formula. The 120 lb and 350 lb examples are labeled picks so the 90/70 column has something to clear. Your pounds come from the sizing guide.

The shop links under this article are category and search URLs. They are not a cart for a named model and not a price.
